An international law firm has completed the fit-out of its new headquarters in the City of London. Situated in the heart of the capital, the relocation follows several years of significant growth. The new, two-floor office delivers a premium, collaborative workspace that fully embraces circular economy principles.
In partnership with Perkins&Will and BW: Workplace Experts, PurOptima’s UK division (Optima Systems) helped design a bright, dynamic office tailored to diverse working styles. Our glazed partitions and doors support a modern open-plan layout while maintaining excellent acoustic privacy. Notably, over 40% of the existing glass partitions were reused in the new space – a sustainable move with a measurable environmental impact.

Working with sustainability consultants Tunley Environmental, we quantified the carbon savings from reusing our glass partitions. The results were striking:
Reused partitions: 2.7 metric tons CO₂ New partitions (same spec): 21.5 metric tons CO₂ Emissions saved: 18.8 metric tons CO₂ Carbon reduction: 87%
That saving is equivalent to the annual gas consumption of more than seven typical households.
“This project proves that circular design and high-performance interiors can go hand in hand.”
This independent assessment highlights the substantial carbon reductions our clients can achieve by reusing PurOptima systems – a key step in our commitment to providing low-impact, high-performance solutions.
From the outset, the client was committed to delivering the new space in the most environmentally responsible way. Through our dedicated Reuse Service, we assessed the systems in their previous office, which were still in excellent condition. After inspection, we determined that 42% of the partitions and doors could be reused in the new HQ.
“Reuse is not just about reducing impact – it’s about maximizing the value and lifespan of high-quality systems.”
This service not only reduced the project’s carbon footprint but extended the lifespan of our products – reinforcing their value, durability, and contribution to circular design.
The reused Revolution 100 partitions and Edge Symmetry double glazed doors met the client’s acoustic and aesthetic specifications for the new workspace, eliminating the need for compromise.
Acoustic performance was another key requirement. The new open-plan layout needed to foster collaboration while providing acoustic privacy across multiple zones – from meeting rooms and boardrooms to community hubs and breakout areas.
“Sustainability was a top priority – but never at the expense of acoustic performance.”
Revolution 100 partitions played a pivotal role. This double-glazed system delivers up to STC 51 using two layers of 0.5 in acoustic laminate glass, allowing natural light to flow while maintaining privacy and reducing noise.
“Revolution 100 allowed us to create open, light-filled workspaces with up to STC 51 acoustic performance.”
Elegant and adaptable, Revolution 100 enabled the creation of multiple workspace types without compromising performance.
The Edge Symmetry double glazed doors further enhanced acoustic performance. Reinstalled seamlessly into the new space, these high-performing doors (up to STC 41) once again met the client’s bespoke design and acoustic criteria – proving that sustainability and performance can go hand in hand.
This case study is a clear example of how reuse and circular thinking can achieve exceptional outcomes – environmentally, acoustically, and aesthetically. It reflects PurOptima’s leadership in sustainable interior solutions and our dedication to reducing the embodied carbon of commercial office fitouts without compromising on quality.
