We continually look at the factors that distinguish us as a leader in the development of environmental and sustainable materials. As a UK manufacturer, with a network of US Project Delivery Partners, we endeavour to minimize the impact on the environment. We are committed to improving our environmental performance as a business and therefore we believe it is our responsibility to take the necessary steps in working towards Net Zero Carbon in the UK.
Optima’s offices and manufacturing sites in the UK operate a third-party approved ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS). Optima has undergone a process of identifying our significant environmental impacts; setting key objectives and developing actions to continually address and also improve our environmental performance.

In response to the UK Government’s declaration of a Climate Emergency, our UK manufacturing facility (OPL) have set ambitious targets of becoming operationally Net Zero Carbon by 2035 based on our direct (scope 1) and indirect (scope 2) emissions in the UK. Achieving this target across our business is crucial. Therefore, through collaboration and innovation, we will make environmental improvements that will benefit everyone. In committing to our target, we acknowledge that bold actions must be undertaken if we are to contribute to the overall success of meeting the UK’s 2050 NZC goals.
We truly believe we can make a difference. We’re dedicated to becoming operationally Net Zero Carbon by 2035.
We value biodiversity, with a designated half-acre region for the protection and restoration of the natural environment and wildlife at our UK manufacturing facility. Furthermore, home to a variety of species, large and small, our aspiration is to grow this area into a thriving healthy ecosystem that will sit comfortably alongside our modern manufacturing facility.
The conservation zone is part of our wider commitment to our environmental goals. It highlights our conscious focus on the impact, manufacturing has on biodiversity both on land and within the local watercourse.
We believe in the responsible sourcing of materials. Therefore, in line with our company policy, all timber used in our UK products is sourced solely from FSC™ (Forest Stewardship Council™) certified suppliers with full Chain of Custody. Our UK manufacturing facility (OPL) is also FSC™ certified ensuring every product installation can be traced back to responsibly managed forests.
Our two main materials are aluminium and glass. Sleek, stylish and sustainable – a classic combination and the favourite choice for office partitioning.

We (OPL) operate a full waste recycling scheme with our waste contractors who generate energy from our non-recyclable waste generated. We also record, report and seek ways to reduce our waste generation and increase our recycling rates.
Recent innovations such as the design and manufacture of a steel stillage for glass door deliveries have enabled the vast reduction of single-use timber pallets. In addition, the carrying capacity of each stillage has been increased allowing us to deliver more products to site per delivery and enabling a reduction in the number of deliveries required. As a result, this has a positive impact on fuel usage, congestion and air quality in addition to reduced greenhouse gas and particulate emissions.
We also monitor our UK office and manufacturing facility’s energy usage and have targets to reduce our usage. Therefore, a review of our facility’s efficiencies led to a process change allowing us to decommission a gas oven and improve the working environment for our operatives.

Fitting office glass wall partitioning to Dublin’s Twitter headquarters was a great experience. We worked closely with our partner in Dublin, Walls to Workstations on this prestigious project which also achieved an outstanding LEED score.
